I've been ab active spanker since the early 1970s in private. As far as the fetish world is concerned ( as least as for my home base, Kansas City).. This is my STORY ! :)

The Spanking Booth

For years I thought it be great if there was a place or opportunity for people who had a spanking urge to have an opportunity to paly in a safe, controlled, enviorment, with no real strings attached. Just a place to get spanked or spank.

I had heard of clubs in other cities, New York, Los angeles where open spanking play was allowed, but in Kansas City, not much of anything, unless you had the right connections to the local BDSM groups.

Then eight years ago opportunity knocked. A gentleman from Lawrence, KS. was sarting a local fetish troupe and he wanted to know if I'd be interested in doing security. I was flattered I was in my mid 40s and the troupe was mid-20s.

One night during their audience participation phase, I was in charge of controlling the line and one young lady was pacing impatiently. We were talking and she said she just wanted a birthday spanking. I told her, I could do that. We went up to the stage and pulled a chair and proceeded to give her a hnd birthday spanking. Before the night was done I had given out three over the knee spankings.

For the next year, in between security I routinely gave out spankings and paddlings to the audience. I got the nickname Mr. Paddleman, because of my paddle collection.

Then opportunity really struck a Kansas city promoter asked me, if i would set up an interactive spanking play area at one of the shows he wanted to do in Kansas City. it was going to be a west coast style show, with burlesque, a fire performance, a band, vendors and of course play areas.

Here was the birth of my spanking booth. It wasn't just going to be a place where people came to be spanked. I wanted it to be an education in spanking and paddling. The safe use of implements. If a male spankee came up to the booth I would walk his lady comapnion through the motions of giving a good spanking or paddling. ( These were public venues, so nudity, except for maybe a thong was prohibited ). I would even let them give me a few whacks.

For games I had theme nights, like one involving the SEVEN DEADLY SINS. It was an interactive game, that went over well.

Furniture, I never had a spanking bench so I had to improvise. I use to carry around my SPANKING CHAIR, unfortunately, one of the legs broke and I had to replace it. It didn't have any resting arms so it was PERFECT for over the knee spanking. I carried a couple of ottomans around I would use as a couch to create a lounge type atmosphere. Then I had my make shift spanking benches.

I also shared the history of spanking and cool internet links.

I estimated that between 2003 and 2007 I had at least 200 different participants come to the booth. Many were repeat customers. Since the fetish nights were very intermittent from period of monthly to sometime six month intervals, I thought this was a good number.

Of course I had the male spankee's in mind also. I usually had various local dommes help me.

The price to get spanked, FREE !! Other than the cost of admission. I never felt it was right to charge for an activity I myself absolutely enjoyed.

So what is the status of the spanking booth today. I hate to say it, inactive. The public fetish scene pretty well died in Kansas City and the troupe in Lawrence, KS. I worked with disbanded a year ago after a six year run.

It is still a great memory and one I'll have for a long, long time.

I have a question. How common are switch hitters who like both sides of the whip?

I’ve wondered that if someone has strong dominant and submissive tendencies, should they find a Dom to show them the ropes, all so he can learn how better to use them on a Sub? Is the Master/Servant relationship required, or are there those who want to dish it out to their partner with the intention of submitting to their retribution?

Every relationship has it's own dynamics. Many Tops/Doms/Dommes wish to experience the feeling of a new toy on themselves before using said toy on a submissive. Others like to switch. How many? How often? For what reason? Well, you would have to ask each those questions and you would likely receive many varied answers.

Switches in this scene are more common than people think! Knowing the ropes yourself certainly helps in knowing exactly what your future submissive is feeling and perhaps thinking!

Glad to read this sentiment. I have been to some places that have an oddly negative view of switches. I am a Dom, but once found myself in a place in life where I wanted to experience some of the things I had done to my subbie.

It helped my perspective, and I am looking forward to getting to know some of the folks in this community. :cool:
