For me, humiliation is basic degradation of someone's esteem, so it is definitely a turnoff when it crosses a line. There are the cute terms like naughty, dirty, slut and such. It turns ugly with words like worthless, whore, stupid, etc.

Humiliation was once a very hard thing for me to get into because of how I felt about these terms, I felt like these terms were ugly and mean! However I realized that being called whore or worthless to one is as equal a turn on as naughty or slut to another! It isn't how I feel about the humiliation, once I realize what it is that is humiliating to the one in play then it is all fun for me, hehe! Although racial humiliation is still a really hard one for me, its just not me and its just not my thing!

For me humiliation is only derived as a desired form when it is within play/session/scene and not something desired outside of it (as I am sure most all would agree... though you never know... there may be some!)
Just like I am not into or derive anything from pain (spankings etc), some are not into humiliation. For me it is derived from various forms from verbal to physical, but of course all stemming from the mental aspects and nature of it.
