Good evening - I am an aspiring newbie, yet to be de-flowered (in the bdsm sense, of course). The advice I get is that, if one is not certain of which role he/she prefers, it's usually best to start as a sub. Is that what you would recommend?

Since you are not sure, why label yourself? I would recommend coming to a few events, watch others, talk with others and try a few things. You will probably feel drawn to certain things that will possibly help you determine whether you are Dom, sub or switch. Take as much time as you like deciding. There is no rush.

Dear OB, I appreciate your reply, and the advice sounds like something I should have thought of myself. I live in Greenville, S.C., and have yet to make any acquaintances who could help me find a gathering. Hence, I might just have to come down the road to Atlanta, which is something I might even prefer. One more question - should I use the event calendar on this site as a potential starting place?

We would love to have you join us at 1763. The calender on here is a good one. There is a good selection of events happening at 1763, with something going on each weekend. Also, 1763 has suite rentals on-site if you would prefer that to a hotel. Whatever you decide is right for you, remember to have fun.
